There is full integration of day boys with boarders, meaning they have complete access to all the facilities and activities of a boarding school – sports hall, snooker, table tennis, the computer room, music, drama, the grounds etc.
Delivery and pick up times for day boys are very flexible.
In the morning day boys may arrive any time from 7.45am up until 8.25am. In the evenings, Chestnuts (years 1 and 2) go home between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm. Years 3 and 4 go home at 4.10 pm or as late as 6.50 pm, having done their prep, eaten supper and joined in with boarders' activities. The choice is yours, and you may pick up at different times on different days. In the middle and senior school (ages 10-13) there is similar flexibility (5.20 pm – 7.30 pm). Boys are most welcome to finish all their prep/homework under supervised conditions at school. Availability of beds permitting, we can also accommodate your son overnight by special arrangement.
There is a weekly Cub Scout Club and many boys choose to board on the evening that they attend the club.
Saturday Morning School
There are considerable advantages to Saturday morning school. The teaching timetable is less compressed, there are more opportunities for other educational activities, the whole week is less intensive than it would otherwise be so boys achieve much more. To offset any potential weekend problems for parents we have fixed long weekends (called exeats) every three weeks and we are as flexible as possible with special weekend requests. For boys in Chestnuts there is an optional activities morning each Saturday.
