Full & Flexi Boarding

Lockers Park is both a day and boarding school.  Day boys and boarders enjoy the same facilities and opportunities, and our flexible collection time allows many day boys to stay on for activities in the afternoons and evenings, as well as to complete homework at school, indeed to have breakfast and supper.

Modern boarding is fun!  Boys enjoy spending time with their friends, especially as they grow older and enjoy building up the self-confidence and independence they will need for their future lives.  Learning to live and work together is one of the most important life skills a school can teach, and very many boys will ask to board at some time in the Lockers career.  In our most recent Ofsted Boarding Inspection (May 2011), it was noted that the boys commented that one of the best things about Lockers is the friendship between boarders.

Trial boarding is a feature of Lockers Park.  Day boys frequently come in for two or three nights or a full week to discover what boarding is like.  Some board for a few nights a week or week days only as a prelude to becoming a full boarder when they are a little older. 

We have a full-time resident matrons’ team who are well-qualified in nursing and first aid, and are ready for all that a school of young boys can throw at them!  They are supported by a school doctor, who is always on call to minister to all boys throughout the week.  Our residential boarding staff look after the boys with endless good humour and energy, and organize as wide an array of activities and fun as you can possibly imagine, creating a real family and supportive atmosphere in which boys are happy and safe.

Flexi-Boarding

For parents today, juggling work and family life is increasingly complicated and stressful.  We try to make it as easy as possible for you to give your child every opportunity and we make our arrangements as flexible as possible – starting with what is best for you and your child.  As well as flexible departure times for day boys, we offer flexi-boarding, so that boys may choose a few nights each week to board, as well as full boarding, which appeals particularly to the oldest boys. 

We are also able to cater for one-off requests, if you have a business trip, a holiday, or even a dinner out.  You know that your son is in safe hands – and will have a fantastic time.  Boys who board at the weekend have an enviable array of visits to sporting events, museums, nature reserves and other boy-friendly venues, not to mention a constant round on site of treasure hunts, barbecues, lectures, games of all kinds, and even the occasional disco!
