Lockers Park Language

Over the years, Lockers Park has developed a language of its own.

Boys' Hall

 

the main lobby or foyer, the day boy entrance and location of notice boards

 

C's Shrubs

 

shrubbery alongside the fence stretching down the right hand side of the front, to the pavilion and beyond. Used by the ‘C’s in breaks and free time

 

Chestnuts

 

Years 1 & 2

 

Christmas Crackers

 

three act sketches written and produced by the six Sets as entertainment before “The Feast”

Christopherson Room

 

next door to the Headmaster’s study. Used for guests, parents and for afternoon tea for the teaching staff

Cupboard

 

the stationery shop located in the Latin Room and open between 8.10 am and 8.25 am on weekday mornings

every boy is given a grade based on his EFFORT in each subject over the previous two or three weeks

twice a term (Big Gs) the practical subjects will be included: Art, Music, Technology, Information Technology and P.E.

Ks

 

short for ‘Keep’. Awarded for good work. Ks add up to make a ‘Copy’

Copy

 

six Ks = 1 Copy in major subjects (English, Maths, Science, French)
Four Ks = 1 Copy in other subjects

(1 Copy = 2 points for your Set)

 

The Feast

 

a major party at the end of the Christmas Term. Christmas Crackers followed by a feast of food, and party games

The Instant Board

 

the White Board in the Boys’ Hall which is used for immediate messages

Lower Field

 

the areas to the left of the drive as you come down the drive. Used by ‘A’s and ‘B’s

The Main Office

 

the office opposite Chestnuts where the School Secretary works

Up passage

 

the 'loo'

Pater

 

a boy appointed to look after a new boy for his first two weeks. Pater = father (Latin)

P.D.R

 

Private Dining Room, opposite main dining room, used by staff for breakfast and evening meals

Sets

 

each boy goes into a 'Set' or 'House'. There are six of theses: Beatty, Haig, Jellicoe, Kitchener, Mountbatten and Roberts

  • Set Competition
this is based on the individual scores of the boys in the 'Set' (Report Sheet and Copies) plus other competitions. The winning Set has a special supper
  • Set Leader
a senior boy who is in charge of the Set
  • Duty Set
each Set takes its turn to be on duty. This involve members of the Set doing various jobs ensuring that the School is tidy and organised
